Some light rubbing to the joint of Volume I, a minor scratch to the rear board of Volume II. A Near Fine copy. Presents beautifully on the shelf.

An important collection of letters, together with biographical information by the Author, Janet Ross. Most notably, the volumes contain an interesting and important insight into the travel writer and translator, Lady Duff Gordon. There are references throughout the text to other important 19th century female travellers such as Harriet Martineau and Marianne North.
